Systems Design Engineer – Optical

We are looking for an experienced Optical Network Planning Engineer to drive the design, optimization, and evolution of high-capacity optical networks. Working closely with Product Management, Optical Engineering, Sales, and R&D teams, you will contribute to strategic customer projects and future optical network architectures. This is an exciting opportunity for professionals passionate about DWDM, optical transmission engineering, and network performance optimization. - Design and optimize DWDM and Optical Transport Network solutions for customer opportunities and strategic projects. - Perform optical link engineering, capacity planning, and network performance analysis. - Act as a technical expert for optical network planning and architecture. - Evaluate new technologies and contribute to future network evolution strategies. - Develop tools and automation to improve planning and design efficiency. - Support technical discussions with internal and customer-facing teams. - Master's degree in Telecommunications, Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field. - 5+ years of experience in Optical Networking, Network Planning, or Transport Network Engineering. - Strong expertise in DWDM, Optical Transport Networks, Optical Link Budget Engineering, and network optimization. - Experience with optical simulation and planning tools (e.g., VPI, RSoft, OPNET). - Knowledge of WDM, OTN, Ethernet, and IP/MPLS technologies. - Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, SQL, or similar scripting tools. - Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Nice to have: - Experience with Nokia Optical Networks solutions (1830 PSS, 1830 GX, WaveSuite). - Knowledge of coherent optics, ROADM architectures, and nonlinear optical analysis.
