Senior Java Backend Developer

• Required Competencies
• Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in Java Backend development;
• Strong experience in designing, developing and implementing scalable Java microservices;
• Proven experience in technical leadership, architecture decisions and software development best practices;
• Experience developing and maintaining RESTful and GraphQL APIs, including OpenAPI documentation;
• Strong knowledge of Keycloak, Okta, OIDC and RBAC, including IAM architecture, authentication and authorization;
• Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging technologies, particularly AWS SQS and Solace;
• Solid knowledge of SQL and relational databases;
• Experience identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks, scalability challenges and security vulnerabilities;
• Experience establishing coding standards, conducting code reviews and implementing quality gates;
• Familiarity with SonarQube and Snyk;
• Experience with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices;
• Knowledge of React and integration with web applications;
• Experience mentoring junior and mid-level developers;
• Strong problem-solving, communication and stakeholder management skills;
• Portuguese and English at C1 level — mandatory;

• Current residence in Portugal — mandatory.

• Preferred Competencies

• Experience in e-commerce, digital commerce platforms or complex enterprise environments;
• Knowledge of AWS Cloud architectures;
• Experience defining software architecture standards and application security strategies;
• Experience producing technical documentation, Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) and runbooks;
• Experience collaborating with Product Owners, solution architects and international stakeholders;
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and continuous delivery practices.

Working Conditions Position: Senior Java Backend Developer Location: Lisbon — Amoreiras area. Working Model: Hybrid — 3 days on-site and 2 days remote per week. Gross Monthly Salary: €2,800 – €3,100, depending on professional experience and technical expertise. The compensation package may include applicable allowances and additional benefits.
