Backend Engineer

The Software Team at Smartex is committed to building the systems that bring AI-powered fabric inspection to the factory floor. Our mission is to help manufacturers reduce waste, improve margins, and enable Digital Quality Control at scale: building a world where every meter of fabric is inspected automatically and intelligently. We are looking for a Backend Engineer with experience with Node.js who possesses a passion for pushing Web technologies to the limits. This Backend Developer will work with our team of talented engineers to design and build web applications for industrial usage. Backend development works closely with Frontend, Product, DevOps, QA, and Embedded Software teams.

Responsibilities

• Write clean and efficient code for web applications.
• Monitor the performance of live apps and optimize them at the code level.
• Identify and resolve bottlenecks, rectify bugs, and enhance application performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
• Work with outside data sources and APIs.
• Unit-test code for robustness, including edge cases, usability, and general reliability.
• Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency.

Skills & Experience

• +4 years software development experience and Backend development skills.
• +4 years of experience with Javascript development.
• Working experience with Node.js.
• Work experience with SQL database.
• Work experience implementing REST APIs.
• Work experience writing unit/integration tests.
• Fluency in English.

Nice to Have

• TypeScript experience.
• ORM experience.
• Scrum experience.
• Experience in the Textile industry or other manufacturing / industrial solutions.
